SOKOLATA means “chocolate” and refers to the beautiful skin of Africans and people of African descent. The small circles in our logo represent the cocoa beans that, together, create this exquisite blend , rich in hues, nuances, and flavors. The cocoa pod symbolizes our roots . Remembering where we come from helps us know where we are going.

SOKOLATA also evokes the richness and authenticity of the continent . Like cocoa, a precious raw material grown primarily in Africa, we hope to demonstrate through this metaphor that a complete endogenous transformation is possible.

At SOKOLATA, we carefully select natural and organic materials exclusively of African origin , in accordance with our values of ethics and sustainability . We work primarily with organic Senegalese cotton and raw Beninese cotton , renowned for their softness and strength. Our traditional handwoven textiles come from Senegal (woven loincloth), Benin (Kanvo), Burkina Faso (Faso Dan Fani), Kenya , and other African countries where ancestral know-how is preserved and valued.

Sokolata creations are made with natural materials and handwoven textiles. Here are our recommendations:

  • Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle inside out (30°C)
  • Avoid using the tumble dryer: opt for air drying.
  • Black clothing: wash separately
  • Clothing made from fully hand-woven textiles: Hand washing or dry cleaning is strongly recommended.
