Founded in spring 2022 by Sikoti Mbaitjongue, Sokolata is a 100% African-made brand that celebrates the Mother Continent and its riches. Inspired by the beauty and diversity of Africa, Sokolata offers a line of premium and casual clothing made in Senegal.
At Sokolata we value natural materials of African origin in our creations, including organic cotton from Senegal, raw cotton from Benin as well as various West African fabrics traditionally woven by hand.
Choosing Sokolata means opting for fashion that minimizes its environmental impact through its choice of materials and suppliers. Our entire value chain is based in Africa, thus contributing to the rise of a new, ethical African fashion.

The Founder
Sikoti Mbaitjongue is a self-taught French-Cameroonian fashion designer based in Dakar, Senegal. After studying economics in Paris and Berlin, she successfully entered the fashion industry in Germany. Passionate about textiles and style since childhood, she gained experience in the sector as a ready-to-wear buyer for a major French fashion retailer in Berlin, Germany.
In 2021, she decided to leave everything behind and embark on a journey to discover traditional West African fabrics. She settled in Senegal and decided to found the SOKOLATA brand in 2022.

I wanted to commit myself to changing perceptions and showing in my own way that African fashion could be different and permanent. This need to associate my vision with it was born in Senegal: To create a comfortable and minimalist style associated with noble and natural materials from the Continent."
